Nautel Partner UrsaNav Acquires Megapulse
UrsaNav Makes Strategic Move in Alternative PNT Technologies.
UrsaNav, Inc. has finalized an agreement to acquire the assets of Megapulse, Incorporated. The transaction is expected to close this quarter. Mr. Erik Johannessen will join UrsaNav as the Vice President of Business Development for UrsaNav’s Low Frequency (LF) Business Unit, and will report to UrsaNav’s President & CEO, Mr. Charles Schue. Megapulse operations staff will also transfer to the LF Business Unit.
With this latest acquisition, UrsaNav solidifies its position as the first-tier player in the High Power / Low Frequency / Ground Wave market, and also asserts its leadership in providing end-to-end, industry-leading solutions to the global Alternative Positioning, Navigation, Timing, and Frequency community. Willing to take a chance on the future with investments today, Schue says “these building blocks are all part of a larger strategic vision for UrsaNav to be the provider of choice to the global LF ecosystem.”
UrsaNav’s LF Business Unit provides Loran-C, eLoran, Chayka, eChayka, and related High Power / Low Frequency / Ground Wave solutions worldwide. For the immediate future, the LF Business Unit will have operations in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area (Leesburg, VA) as well as the Northeast Region (Boston, MA). This acquisition positions UrsaNav to support present owners of legacy Megapulse technology while providing those owners a path for system and technology upgrades to more advanced technologies.
UrsaNav’s advanced technology offerings include its own multi-mode LF receivers and command and control equipment. Additionally, UrsaNav offers Nautel’s next generation, multi-mode LF transmitters and Symmetricom’s Loran and eLoran timing and frequency products. Nautel’s and Symmetricom’s products are provided under exclusive, worldwide agreements.
