UrsaNav Testing Wide-Area Timing Alternative with NL Series
UrsaNav Inc. has begun testing a wireless technical approach for providing a wide area-precise time solution using Nautel’s NL Series data capable LF PNT transmitter technology at the former USCG Loran site in Wildwood, NJ.
On February 13, 2012, the U.S. Coast Guard entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with UrsaNav, Inc. to research, evaluate, and document a wireless technical approach as an alternative to the Global Positioning System (GPS) for providing a wide area-precise time solution.
The ability to obtain precise time to at least one microsecond is necessary for the proper operation and functioning of many critical industries and systems. Examples include telecommunications networks, banking and finance, energy and power delivery, emergency services, transportation systems, and military and homeland security systems.
On February 29, 2012, UrsaNav Inc. using Nautel’s NL Series data capable LF PNT transmitter technology began the initial testing of this system from the former USCG Loran site in Wildwood, NJ.
UrsaNav Inc. is the Worldwide Value Added Reseller for Nautel’s NL Series LF Data Capable PNT Transmitters. Nautel and UrsaNav Inc. have worked closely since 2007 to develop a state of the art and total solution for LF Alternative Position, Navigation and Timing.
